Who We Are

"And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God... to those who are the called according to His purpose."

Romans 8:28

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Rev. Fairley attended Chicago public elementary and secondary schools. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from St. Xavier University in Chicago and a Master of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Northwestern Campus, Evanston, Illinois Later on she earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from The American College of Education, Chicago, Illinois.

“Rev. Mary” as she is affectionately called, was also awarded an honorary doctorate degree in Old Testament Biblical Studies from The Midwest Theological Seminary of Indiana.

She was ordained in November 1995 by the United Church of Christ as an associate pastor of a local church where her husband, Rev. Donald J. Fairley, served as pastor.

Pastor, preacher, teacher, evangelist, counselor, administrator, organizer, retreat facilitator and advocate of women and children, Rev. Mary’s duties stretched her mind, heart and spirit as she served as minister and consultant for several organizations in the church, while teaching concurrently in the Chicago Public School system for over twenty years.

In addition to serving in the local church, Rev. Mary’s ministry extends to the wider church as she has been called to preach, teach and minister throughout the continental United States, as well as in Jamaica and South America. She and her husband even had the distinct honor of being invited to the White House by President Bill Clinton during his presidency, along with other clergy from around country to discuss and pray for the country’s healthcare issues.

Following her husband’s retirement from the pastorate, Rev. Fairley continued to serve in ministry and became the founding pastor of Resurrection Community Church, on the south side of Chicago. It was during this time that she began hosting “The Resurrecting Word”, a weekly radio bible study.

Though recently retired from teaching middle school for the district of Chicago, God has her in what she likes to call “the no longer and the not yet”, and so she continues to study and be stretched by the Word, and the work God has invited her to share with Him—- whenever and wherever that may be.

She presently serves and ministers as one of the associate pastors at Faith Movers Church, in University Park, Illinois, where  Moses B. Herring, is the Founding and Senior Pastor.

She is also the founder of Sisters of the Spirit (S.O.S.) International Prayer Ministry. An advocacy of prayer as the ultimate power of the people of God.

Rev. Mary recently returned to the media of radio with “The Resurrecting Word” a powerful study of the Bible designed to empower her listeners with its revelation and resurrecting power!

She is in the process of finishing a book on the sexual abuse, misuse and blame of  girls and women in the Bible.

In all of this,  God’s richest blessings to her are—- her husband, Rev. Donald Fairley, their children, and her five grandchildren: Jeremiah, Christian, Angelos, Cheyenne and Antoinette!
